Carey Netherton

Carey Netherton, Associate Professor of Practice

3D Foundations, Sculpture

Carey Netherton was born and raised in east central Illinois, and received a B.A. in 3-D Studio Art and Philosophy in 1998 from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. In 2000, he became an Instructional-Supervisory Staff member at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Mercerville, New Jersey.

Carey Netherton Woe SpinnerAt the Atelier, he assisted many internationally renowned sculptors with the production of numerous works of contemporary cast metal sculpture. Netherton completed an MFA in Sculpture at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2008, and then relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the Minnetonka Center for the Arts in Wayzata, Minnesota, Netherton served as the Sculpture Studio Manager and taught sculptural welding, blacksmithing and metal casting for six years. Netherton’s work has been exhibited nationally, and is in numerous private collections.
