Jennifer Presar, Associate Lecturer

Music

A West Virginia native, Jennifer Presar currently is the Assistant Director and Instructor of Horn and Music Theory at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She holds degrees in Music Theory and Composition and Horn performance from University of Illinois and West Virginia University, respectively.

Her principal teachers include Virginia Thompson, Kazimirez Machala, and David Cottrell. She has participated and performed in many master classes, namely with Philip Myers, William Cabellero, and Dale Clevenger.

Before working on her graduate degrees, Jennifer worked in the marketing department at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Illinois and held the position of Box Office manager for the West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown, WV as well as other positions in arts administration.

Active as freelance horn player, she is currently principal horn with the Paducah Symphony (KY) and has performed with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, Wheeling Symphony (WV), Seneca Chamber Orchestra (WV), the Illinois Symphony, and others throughout Illinois, West Virginia, and Maryland. She is a founding member of Neoteric.

Jennifer is the faculty advisor for the SIU chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, the women's music fraternity and a member of the International Horn Society, College Music Society, and National Association for Music Education.
