Craig Gingrich-Philbrook, Professor

Communication Studies

Craig Gingrich-Philbrook is a Professor of Communication Studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He received his B.A. from California State University in English with a creative writing emphasis (1986), an M.A. from California State University in information and communication studies with an interpersonal and organizational communication emphasis (1988) and his Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Speech Communication with an emphasis in performance studies (1994).

His interests include postmodern performance, queer performance and theory, performance in mediated environments, philosophy of communication and communication theory. Dr. Gingrich-Philbrook has been published in professional journals such as Text and Performance Quarterly, and Narrative Inquiry and presented at various conferences, including the National Communication Association. He has written, adapted, performed in and directed many performances, most recently "Bat on a Wyre," co-written and directed with Jonathan Gray in Spring 2009.
