Sarah Basler, LCSW completed her BSW and MSW at Southern Illinois University- Carbondale. Sarah is a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with her Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorder Professional endorsement with IAODAPCA (CADC, CODP). Sarah has more than 20 years of clinical experience. She has worked in a variety of areas in the Social Service field.

She has worked in the substance use disorder field for 15 years. She worked with adults and adolescents in residential therapy, outpatient and also as a manager in the admissions department at Gateway Foundation. Sarah has also worked as a civilian contractor with the Illinois National Guard to assist and support family members through deployments during OIF/OEF. She has worked with children and family and youth in care. Before starting as the Undergraduate Coordinator at SIU-C Sarah worked in the hospital setting in the behavioral health department in the emergency department at Herrin Hospital. Sarah is a member of the SIU-C Trauma Behavioral Health Fellowship and has extensive training in trauma informed care. Sarah has had extensive training in CBT, DBT, Motivational interviewing, Seeking Safety and Mindful Base Sobriety.
