Steven M. Bushong is a full-time Professor at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), located at the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. He specializes in data network security and Cybersecurity. He has also taught CCNA, CCNA Security, Network Security, Data Assurance, CCNP, CCSP, Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity.

Joseph T. Lyons has extensive academic and work experience as an engineer, scientist and CPA. He earned his Doctor of Business Administration (2005) from Nova Southeastern University, Master of Business Administration (1995) from Nova Southeastern University.

Frank Marsaglia, Assistant Lecturer

Frank Marsaglia holds a Master’s in Computer Networking and certificates in A+, Novell Administrator, Cisco Teaching IT Essentials, CCNA R&S, and CCNA Security. Frank has over 22 years of teaching experience at the college level and 35 years of work experience within the Computer Networking and Security field, consulting with local K-12 schools in designing and implementing district-wide networking/security solutions.

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Martin spent 14 years in management and IT project management positions. Ron McFarland, Assistant Professor of Practice

Information Technology

Dr. Ron McFarland (consultant, researcher, educator, published author) has 30 years of professional practice and leadership in the IT and IS fields. He holds numerous certifications including Certified Network Defense Architect (CNDA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), and others. Ron has successfully led large database and security development projects for the financial services, nuclear power, and defense manufacturing industry sectors.

Jeff Miller is a graduate of the SIU Information Technology program with over 20 years of experience in IT. He enjoys utilizing hands-on learning experiences in information technology to prepare students for today’s jobs. His current research interests include web applications, SQL, utilizing open source in e-commerce, and statistics for IT professionals.

Matthew Nicklin is a cyber security specialist with twenty years of experience in information technology and operational technology. He is currently employed by Southern Illinois Power Cooperative in Marion Illinois where his duties include SCADA system cyber security and NERC CIP compliance.

Steven Prevette, Lecturer

Information Technology

Steve Prevette is an advocate of Dr. Deming’s management methods and applies Statistical Process Control to performance metrics. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, and also an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer. Steve retired from Fluor corporation where he supported statistical analysis at nuclear sites in Ontario, Ohio, South Carolina, and Idaho.

Stephen Shih, Professor

Information Technology

Dr. Stephen Shih holds a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University and earned his master’s degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. On top of his academic experience, he was employed by the United Technologies Research Center, Lucent Technologies, and SAMPO Electronic Cooperation. His research areas include intelligent systems design, data analytics, e-supply chain management, and health informatics.
