Kylie Reale, Assistant Professor

Criminology and Criminal Justice

Dr. Reale joined the SIU faculty in 2023 after serving as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of California, Irvine. She completed her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada in 2022.

Prior to coming to SIU in the Fall of 2023, she was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California Irvine in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society.

Dr. Reale’s primary research interests include interpersonal violence, offender decision-making, correctional policy, and criminal investigations. Her most recent research focuses on the causes and consequences of prison violence.
