Chris Warmack, Assistant Lecturer
American Sign Language
Chris Warmack is a Deaf Assistant Lecturer in the School of Languages and Linguistics, and a third-generation member of the Deaf community. He is a fluent user of American Sign Language (ASL). His career in ASL education began when he taught his hearing best friend how to sign during high school, sparking a passion for bridging communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.
Warmack earned his Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language with a minor in ASL Linguistics in 2017, followed by a Master's degree in Sign Language Education (MASLED) in 2019 from Gallaudet University, Washington D.C. His educational philosophy emphasizes immersion in the Deaf community, consistent communication with Deaf individuals, and daily practice of ASL to foster effective learning.
He is a dedicated educator with expertise in developing and teaching ASL courses. Warmack excels in ASL literacy, storytelling, and poetry, and has extensive knowledge of Deaf culture, ASL and Deaf history, Deaf Studies, and video editing.
