Michael Abba, Assistant Lecturer

Michael retired from Ameren Illinois in 2024 as Director of Business Development. He started in 1990 at Central Illinois Public Service, one of the predecessor companies of Ameren, as an Electric Distribution Engineer. Over his 33+ working career with Ameren he held various engineering, operations, strategy, and leadership positions. These included leadership roles in field engineering and operations, industrial customer relations, business process re-engineering and implementation, and innovation and smart grid.

Gayan Amarasuriya Aruma Baduge, Associate Professor

Dr. Aruma Baduge's research interests are in the broad area of communications theory and wireless communications with an emphasis on massive MIMO systems, millimeter-wave communications, cooperative relay networks, device-to-device communications, wireless energy harvesting for IoTs, and physical-layer security.

Steven Blair, Assistant Professor

Dr. Blair's research interests encompass the broad areas of biomedical optical imaging and biophotonics, focusing especially on the co-design of image sensors, imaging optics, and computer vision techniques for applications in image-guided surgery.

Mehdi Ghasemirahaghi, Assistant Professor

Ph.D. Arizona State University, 2024

Mehdi’s research interests include Internet of Things (IoT), energy-aware computing, and computation offloading at the edge. His focus is on enabling the energy-efficient execution of machine learning workloads on resource-constrained commercial-off-the-shelf IoT devices. His research can be applied to a variety of use cases including but not limited to agriculture, robotics, AR/VR, and healthcare. He has worked on several projects ranging from circuit-level to system-level optimization of embedded systems.
