John Legier
John Legier, Associate Professor
John Legier received a BS Specialization in Adult Training and Development from Southern Illinois University (SIU) in 1999, followed by a MS Ed. in 2002, also from SIU. He completed his PhD work in August 2007 and was awarded his PhD in Education with a focus in Workforce Education and Development in December 2007. In August 2008, he joined the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA) at SIU and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014. In July 2019, The TRM Program was moved to the new College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics where John presently serves as the TRM Program Coordinator and a Faculty member in the School of Applied Engineering and Technology.
In October 1998, John retired from the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Program where he served as a Nuclear Quality Assurance Officer (NQAO), Senior Nuclear Power Plant Operations Officer on aircraft carrier, cruiser, and submarine platforms, Assistant Nuclear Engineer Training Coordinator/Instructor, and Nuclear Mechanical Supervisor. As a NQAO, he over saw the U.S. Pacific Northwest nuclear quality assurance programs for 3 nuclear powered aircraft carriers, 2 nuclear cruisers, and 5 nuclear fast attack submarines. In 1998, John was hired as the Training Engineer for an international and domestic engineering firm in the Seattle WA area that specialized in predictive maintenance using vibration and acoustic analysis of production and industrial rotating machinery. John’s graduate research focused on the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Leadership Effectiveness.
