Paralegal studies is the only undergraduate program where every teacher is a licensed attorney.

Joe Calvert, Program Director

Paralegal Studies

Joe Calvert is a 1996 graduate of New York Law School. He has law licenses in the States of New York, Tennessee, and Connecticut. While the managing attorney of a multi-State law firm in New York, California, Tennessee, Arizona, and Connecticut, Joe Calvert began his teaching career at Syracuse University and subsequently had the opportunity to teach at several other colleges and universities including the University of California, Irvine and The State University of New York.

Kenneth Hughes, Senior Lecturer

Kenneth Hughes is a practicing attorney in Southern Illinois and has taught in the Paralegal Studies program since 1982.

Daniel Silver, Clinical Associate Professor

Paralegal Studies

Daniel A. Silver teaches a wide variety of courses in the Paralegal Studies program. Mr. Silver has been practicing law, primarily in the area of bankruptcy and creditors' rights, since 1993. He has been teaching in the Paralegal Studies program at SIU Carbondale since 2002.
