Rebecca McElhose | SIU

Nursing

Dr. McElhose joined the faculty at SIU in 2022. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Kaskaskia College and received her BSN, MSN, and DNP at Chamberlain University of Nursing. She has experience in cardiac step-down, urology, surgical, and oncology.

She currently teaches at Kaskaskia College as the instructor for cardiovascular and respiratory nursing. She is the Clinical Coordinator for southern Illinois and works on the cardiac stepdown unit at SSM Healthcare. Dr. McElhose loves teaching and loves when the students are able to use what they learn in theory and apply it to their clinical experiences. She decided to become a nurse after she saw a nurse advocate for her patient. She hopes that she can inspire her students just like that nurse inspired her.
