Jody Giles, Associate Professor of Practice
Dr. Jody Giles is an Associate Professor of Practice specializing in Clinical Mental Health training and supervision.
She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with specializations in Counselor Education & Supervision and in Human Learning & Development from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2008). She holds a Masters degree in Psychological Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University (1991) and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Murray State University (1988). She has been a full time Counselor Education since 2007 with appointments at Murray State University, Lindsey Wilson College and Montana State University Billings. She has been actively engaged in multiple leadership roles at the regional and state level in Kentucky, She has authored multiple articles and has been invited to present at numerous state and national conferences. Dr. Giles is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with active licenses in Kentucky and Indiana. She has also been licensed in Texas and Montana. She is a Board approved Supervisor in Kentucky for provisionally licensed counselors.
Dr. Giles is an actively engaged clinical practitioner in multiple community settings, providing consultation, clinical supervision, and private counseling services. She specializes in couples, families and children with an emphasis on resolving high conflict custody and abuse cases. She was a founding member of the Mediation Society of Southeast Missouri in 1994; going on to establish protocols for counselors engaged in court related work. Dr. Giles has an extensive clinical history and is always willing to engage with students on real life practice issues, including ethics, legal issues, and managing burnout in new counselors.
Her current work is focused on providing reintegration and readjustment retreats to United States military veterans throughout the country.
