Wendi Zea, Associate Professor, Costume Design
Wendi R. Zea is an associate professor in costume design, teaching design, period styles, costumes construction, play reading and a variety of costume crafts classes, including dyeing, fabric modification, wigs and millinery.
She has designed costumes for numerous professional theatres including Cortland Repertory Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, Northern Stage, and McLeod Summer Playhouse. At SIU, Wendi has designed several productions, including Cosi Fan Tutte and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. Her design work has been presented at the United States Institute for Theatre Technology Conference Design Expo, and she has done presentations at USITT and SETC on the benefits of using half scale dress forms as teaching aids. Her major research areas include using computer rendering techniques and costume history.
