Background:
He had worked in funeral homes in Southern Illinois from 1988 until 1997 and owned a Trade Embalming Service during that time as well. He joined SIU and the School of Allied Health in 1997 as a Visiting Assistant Instructor with Mortuary Science and Funeral Service (MSFS) program. From 1998 until 2000 he was a Graduate Assistant with the Mortuary Science program. In 2000, he joined the School of Allied Health as an Academic Advisor for the Dental Hygiene, Mortuary Science, and Radiologic Sciences program. During his time as the Academic Advisor, he has taught classes now and again for the MSFS program. In 2005, he won the Service to the College Award for his commitment to his students and to the College of Applied Sciences and Arts. In 2016, he won the Administrative Professional Staff Excellence Award for his commitment to his students, the School of Allied Health, the College of Applied Sciences and Arts, and to Southern Illinois University. He is the Building Emergency Response Team (B.E.R.T.) Director for the College of Applied Sciences and Arts as well as their Safety Liaison. He serves on his Church Counsel and he is the Safety Director for his church.
