Scholarships
We know college is expensive, but there are ways to help ease that financial burden. Our goal is to make your college education as affordable as possible. Communication Studies students are eligible for a variety of scholarship opportunities through the university, as well as access to many award resources.
The Communication Studies program also offers many awards to its majors through the generosity of patrons and alumni. We offer several degree specific scholarships available specifically for students enrolled in the Communication Studies program.
Paul Hibbs Memorial Scholarship
This is an academic achievement award given to one, two, or three undergraduate students each year with at least a 3.0 GPA, recognizing academic excellence and co-curricular achievements. Scholarship funds are awarded annually during Honors Day ceremonies.
Elizabeth Lance Toth Public Relations Student Award
This is an annual award for a graduating senior specializing in public relations who is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
Robert L. Carr Speech Communication Scholarship
Recipients of this scholarship shall be an undergraduate with junior or senior status or a graduate student majoring in or pursuing a graduate degree in Communication Studies.
John T. Warren Memorial Scholarship
Established to honor the research and scholarship of Professor John T. Warren, this annual award is given to one undergraduate and one graduate student. Students may apply for this scholarship to support academic research or travel to professional conferences.
Dr. Albert J. Weitz Scholarship
Dr. Weitz (Ph.D. 2002) left a bequest in 2013 to establish a scholarship for students in the field of Communication Studies. The scholarships, given regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status, are given to Communication Studies majors in good standing, who demonstrate financial need.
Bryan K. Crow Memorial Scholarship
Established to honor the research and scholarship of Professor Bryan K. Crow, this annual award is given to one undergraduate and one graduate student. Students may apply for this scholarship to support academic and professional development.
