Research Focus

Increased climate variability poses many challenges to sustainability of food production. Our research program uses integrated management approaches to design regionally adapted cropping systems that are profitable, efficient, sustainable, and resilient. We combine agroecological principles and precise nutrient management practices and evaluate the sustainability of the designed systems.

Topics of our research group include:

  1. Long-term tillage by fertility trial in a corn-soybean cropping system
  2. Nitrogen management of corn in legume- and cereal-based cover cropping systems
  3. Precision nitrogen management of corn
  4. Agroecological intensification of corn-soybean cropping systems
  5. Sustainable phosphorus management of vegetable crops
