Sangchul Oh, Assistant Professor

Dr. Oh is an Assistant Professor at the Southern Illinois University School of Physics and Applied Physics. He earned his Ph. D. in theoretical condensed matter physics from Pohang University of Science and Technology, South Korea. Before joining SIU in Fall 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Korea Institute for Advanced Study, Max Planck Institute at Dresden, University at Buffalo, and Purdue University. He worked as a senior scientist at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute.

Research

Dr. Oh’s primary research focuses on quantum computing and quantum information, quantum machine learning, and theoretical physics. Specifically, he is interested in quantum teleportation, entanglement of quantum many-body systems, superconducting qubits, quantum data buses of spin qubit systems, quantum algorithms, random circuit sampling, quantum machine learning, etc. His other work includes geometric phases and Aharonov-Casher effects, single-electron transistors, solar cells, and numerical simulation.
