Candida Constantine-Castillo, Clinical Assistant Professor

Health Care Management, Health Administration, Health Informatics

I have three decades of nursing experience ranging from critical care and emergency trauma to executive nursing leadership.  I have served in administrative roles as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and am currently the Chief Executive Officer for an acute care hospital in my community.. Healthcare Leadership is my passion!

I have had the pleasure of serving as academic faculty for undergraduate and graduate programs for since 2009 and have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with learners across the country.

My graduate nursing degree and MBA were completed in the online environment as well as my Doctor of Health Administration and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees . My focus of research and study has included the impact of leadership and team development with physicians and healthcare workers to improve the patient experience and quality outcomes.  My specific area of research is the promotion of resilience and reduction of moral distress and injury for clinical leaders dealing with chronic health care crisis situations. The pandemic has taken a tremendous toll on our healthcare leaders, and it is my desire to create resources beyond the typical organizational human resource and employee assistance programs to promote team support and tools to assist our health care leadership heroes.

I can appreciate the challenges as well as the satisfaction experienced by fellow learners in the online environment while balancing life, work, and higher education.

Beyond my passion for leadership, my personal passions include my two beautiful daughters and wonderful husband. We are in many activities in the community to include volunteerism and animal rescue. In addition to my two children, I am the proud parent of 25 dogs and cats, two parrots of twenty years, two ferrets, two geckos, and two lion-head rabbits and a mouse. My free time is spent working with these animals and we have successfully rehabilitated and rehomed many. I also enjoy playing the flute and reading in my spare time.
