Automotive facilities

The Automotive Technology Program at Southern Illinois University is known industry wide for the high quality of its training and graduates. The university created cutting edge Transportation Education Center (TEC). This facility brought together the automotive and aviation degree programs and their students and faculty in one location, resulting in an efficient use of resources. This facility provides several common functions including classrooms, library/reference rooms, labs, student lounges and a computer center.

The TEC facility consists of a main building serving the Automotive Technology, Aviation Flight, Aviation Management and Aviation Technologies programs and annexes. The total square footage of the TEC is estimated to be 187,083 gross square feet for the main facility, a fleet storage area with 31,965 gross square feet and an aviation test cell facility with 11,855 gross square feet.
