Robert Anderson, Assistant Professor Practice - Technical Production
Technical Direction and Production
Robert Anderson's theatrical career started with a Bachelor's of Science in Theatre from Minnesota State University, Mankato after a decade of military service. After graduation, he was hired as a touring technical director based out of Kenner, LA. After completing this tour, he worked in film in the greater New Orleans area until he was hired as Technical Director for Jefferson Performing Arts Society.
After a grueling season, he applied and was accepted to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale to pursue a Master's degree in Technical Direction. While in graduate school, he worked a summer as Technical Director for McLeod Summer Playhouse, and two summers as Assistant Technical Director for Utah Shakespeare Festival. Upon graduation, Robert was hired as Technical Director for the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University. In this position, he taught stagecraft, practicum, and drafting classes to an all undergraduate program consisting of over 200 students. Here at SIU, Robert hopes to continue assisting in the integration of new technology to the curriculum and production, including automation and streaming.
