Elisabeth Reichert, Professor

Social Work

Prof. Reichert began her social work studies in Germany, where she received a master's degree. Before studying social work, Prof. Reichert spent two years in Malaysia as a program coordinator for the German equivalent of the US Peace Corp. After receiving her social work degree in Germany, Prof. Reichert studied at the University of Tennessee on a Fulbright Scholarship. At UT, Prof. Reichert received a MSSW and a PHD in Health Education. 

After completing her academic studies at UT, Prof. Reichert worked in rural Appalachia for a sex abuse treatment program. Prof. Reichert obtained her LCSW (now inactive) in Tennessee while practicing there. In 1994, Prof. Reichert came to SIUC as an assistant professor but is now professor. At SIUC Prof. Reichert has published internationally recognized books and articles in the area of human rights. Prof. Reichert has also conducted and taught a study abroad course in Germany for over 25 years, which continues to attract students throughout the United States.
