Chilman Bae, Assistant Professor

Dr. Bae’s research interests are in 1) Bioelectrical Engineering: development of bioinstruments and technology and computational simulation, 2) Neuroscience: spinal cord stimulation, opioid induced chronic pain, and HIV associated neuropathic pain, and 3) Mechanobiology: mechanosensitive ion channels (Piezo channels) and cellular mechanotransduction.

Mehdi Ghasemirahaghi, Assistant Professor

Mehdi’s research interests include Internet of Things (IoT), energy-aware computing, and computation offloading at the edge. His focus is on enabling the energy-efficient execution of machine learning workloads on resource-constrained commercial-off-the-shelf IoT devices. His research can be applied to a variety of use cases including but not limited to agriculture, robotics, AR/VR, and healthcare. He has worked on several projects ranging from circuit-level to system-level optimization of embedded systems.

Arash Komaee, Associate Professor

Dr. Komaee's interests are in the areas of control theory and signal processing with emphasis on stochastic control, optimal control, estimation theory, and nonlinear filtering. In his current research, he applies these areas to problems in magnetic control of micro- and nano-scale systems. He is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award.

Justin Pol, Assistant Professor of Practice, Experiential Learning Coordinator

Dr. Pol's research includes biomechanics, using kinetics and kinematics, with emphasis on association between osteoarthritic development and gait. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky in Paducah, Ky. In 2019 he then continued with his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.
