Craig Anz, PhD, Interim Director and Professor

Architecture & Interior Design

In addition to his extensive research and courses taught, Dr. Anz provides guidance for thesis students. He is also active in the community, volunteering with local non-profit organizations such as Carbondale Main Street for spatial projects.

Research Interests

Urban design, architecture, community development, and place theory; Epistemology and environmental discourse, critical social theory, philosophy, and their roles in architectural education; Architecture and cultural studies with emphasis on Modernism and Central European history and theory; Research methods for the architect; Spatial, social, and aesthetic theories in architecture; Design foundations and creative processes; Ongoing studies in architectural education, epistemological evaluation, and professional roles in service learning, urban and environmental endeavors, community education, and socio-cultural development.
